Newcastle Music & Art Therapy Services
Individual Music Therapy Sessions
We provide Individual Music Therapy sessions for all ages and abilities.
These are tailored sessions where you work one-on-one with a Registered Music Therapist. Music Therapy looks and sounds different for everyone. Your Music Therapist will ask you about your interests – your session could include active music making, listening to or discussing music, connecting socially with other people, movement, improvisation, or songwriting.
Our purpose-built music rooms are equipped with a huge collection of musical instruments – guitars, pianos and keyboards, ukuleles, drums, xylophones and all sorts of percussion instruments.
Individual Art Therapy Sessions
We provide Individual Art Therapy sessions for all ages and abilities.
In Art Therapy, the focus is not on making a perfect, beautiful end product – it’s about using art making to support active engagement in therapy, encouraging expression, communication, storytelling, multisensory grounding and emotion regulation. We can learn a lot about you by how you approach the materials, how you tolerate when things don’t go how they planned, and how you problem solve.
We have purpose-built rooms with a wide variety of art materials to choose from. Some people really respond well to being given a certain theme to make something around, while others prefer to explore and be self-directed – though often it is a combination of the two. Your Art Therapist will always be holding your therapeutic goals in mind and will weave them into your session.
